Fortnite’s big v10.30 update is now live. It comes with changes both great and small.

We’ll focus on the “great” portion. If you want to read the minutia, Fortnite blog and read all about it.

Okay, so let’s talk meat and potatoes. Or tacos, rather, as they are now a consumable of sorts in the game. More on that in a second.

Map Changes

The biggest part of the v10.30 patch are the two new Rift Zones. Both of these are old-meets-new style map changes that bring back older named locations, but with a twist.

Moisty Palms

The first new zone is Moisty Palms, a sort of hybrid between Paradise Palms and Moisty Mires. The twist here is that when players crouch in this area they turn into a prop. It basically becomes Prop Hunt.

Greasy Grove

Greasy Grove has emerged from the ice lake it was frozen in lo these many seasons ago. A Durrr Taco shop has replaced the Durrr Burger shop so that’s excellent (I love burgers, but I think I love tacos more). Tacos even fall from the sky in Greasy now, and if they hit you they make you dance like a Boogie Bomb, except you can’t be harmed while dancing. (See, tacos rule).

You can eat scavenged spicy tacos now, also, which replenish health and give a speed boost. Fortnite should really start some kind of cooking mini-game, where combining different foraged items and cooking them has different benefits, like in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

A New Gun Is Vaulted, An Old Gun Returns

One of the best changes in today’s update is the return of the Tactical SMG,

Epic vaulted the Burst SMG, a relatively new addition to the game. While that’s a perfectly fine gun, I’m not shedding any tears that it’s gone.

Other Stuff

There’s a new Creative LTM called Knocktown in which you use the grappler to dodge shots and one-shot enemies with the Flint-Knock. Sounds like a hard pass for me.
Bug fixes include changes to the shockwave grenade, zapper trap and BRUTE, but the ziplines are still out until next week.
Epic has decided to let the community vote on the Item Shop contents, or at least what’s featured in the Item Shop. The first community vote starts this week. .
There’s a bunch of other fixes to UI, graphical improvements to various items and outfits, and lots more which you should just read at because nothing else qualifies as “meat and potatoes” as far as I’m concerned.

And that’s about it! .
