Along with his first battle against top pick LaMelo Ball, Steph Curry was slated for a return to his hometown on Saturday. However, the two-time Most Valuable Player’s homecoming has been put on hold.
Moments before the opening tip against the Charlotte Hornets, Curry left the floor and headed to the locker room with Golden State trainer Rick Celebrini. Instead of the seven-time All-Star in the lineup, Mychal Mulder received the start against the Hornets.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry’s late scratch in Charlotte isn’t a health and safety protocol absence.

This is not a health and safety protocol absence for Steph Curry, I'm told. Not feeling well. But not pulled off the court by the NBA.

With James Wiseman and Kevon Looney already sidelined, the Warriors will have a thin depth chart and a huge hole to fill in Charlotte. Curry is averaging 29.9 points on 48.6% shooting from the field and hasn’t missed a game for Golden State this season. The Warriors will be challenged in Charlotte without their point guard.
